Job Summary
The Engineering Drafting and CAD Technician is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software. This role involves collaborating with engineers and designers to produce precise and accurate drafts for construction, manufacturing, and engineering projects.
Principal Responsibilities
- CAD Drafting: Create detailed technical drawings and blueprints using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit). Develop plans, elevations, sections, and detailed drawings for various projects.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain project documentation, including specifications, schematics, and diagrams. Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards and company guidelines.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, architects, and designers to understand project requirements and specifications. Incorporate feedback and revisions into designs as needed.
- Quality Control: Review and check drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications. Identify and resolve design discrepancies and errors.
- File Management: Organize and maintain digital files and drawings in the project database. Ensure proper version control and documentation of changes.
- Project Support: Assist in the preparation of project estimates, timelines, and material lists. Provide technical support during the construction or manufacturing phases.
- Standards Compliance: Stay updated with the latest industry standards, codes, and regulations. Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety and quality standards.
- Innovation and Improvement: Suggest improvements to design processes and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Keep abreast of new CAD software features and advancements.
- Perform routine engineering and surveying assignments as may be periodically assigned.
- Perform topographic and measurement surveys in the field to support engineering analysis utilizing GNSS, total station, automatic level, drone & hydrographic equipment. Perform Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis and create maps
Education and Experience
- Education: Certificate or Associate’s degree in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Experience: 2-4 years of experience in drafting and CAD design, preferably in an engineering or construction environment, would be a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3d, Revit), Microsoft Office Suite.
- Certifications: Certification in CAD or Drafting is a plus. Holder of a valid driver’s licence
