The Sangster International Airport (SIA) is bordered by Kent Avenue to the north and west of the property. Kent Avenue currently acts as a buffer to the airport from erosive wave forces through a paved road reservation and a low seawall. The seawall has, however, deteriorated which in turn has allowed water (wave forces) to undermine the road causing it to collapse.
CEAC was engaged by the Airports Authority of Jamaica (AAJ) to provide designs for shoreline protection in place of the failed seawall. This design will help to prevent further undermining of the road and eventually the airport. The services provided by CEAC focused on an armoured rock revetment design and scour protection which included the formulation of designs, regulatory approvals and contract administration.
