JPS Flood Plain and Storm Surge

Projects » JPS Flood Plain and Storm Surge

PROJECT DETAILS

A Power Plant’s location is within a known flood prone area of Old Harbour Bay along the Bowers Gully. The location also prone to storm surges within the Portland Bight area as the site is approximately 1.5m above mean sea level.

CEAC Solutions conducted hydrological, and hydraulic analysis (flood plain modelling exercises) to determine the flood levels for the 50 and 100year storm events; collected anecdotal information to calibrate hydraulic model, catchment delineation, soils, and land use information. Hydrological modeling was undertaken of the 50 and 100 year events. Recommendations were made for minimum floor levels and critical facilities.
